Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Welder to join our team. The Welder will be responsible for performing various welding tasks to fabricate and repair metal structures, equipment, and other components. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards to ensure high-quality welds and structural integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welding Operations: Perform welding tasks using various techniques, including MIG, TIG, arc, and oxy-acetylene welding, on materials such as steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements, including joint configurations, material types, and welding processes.
- Material Preparation: Prepare materials for welding by cutting, shaping, and grinding as needed, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
- Weld Inspection: Inspect completed welds for quality, ensuring they meet company standards and specifications. Make necessary adjustments to correct defects or inconsistencies.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in good condition. Perform routine maintenance and report any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as welding helmets, gloves, and protective clothing. Ensure a safe work environment by identifying and mitigating hazards.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of welding activities, including job specifications, materials used, and any issues encountered during the welding process.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including engineers, fabricators, and inspectors, to ensure the successful completion of projects.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in welding (e.g., AWS, ASME) is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Welder in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial setting.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Knowledge of welding safety practices and the ability to work in a safe manner.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and work in various positions.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting, carrying, and moving up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in environments with heat, noise, and potential exposure to welding fumes.
