Job Title: Road and Bridge Construction Worker

Job Summary: We are seeking hardworking and reliable Road and Bridge Construction Workers to assist with the building, maintenance, and repair of roads, bridges, and related infrastructure. This role involves performing manual labor, working with heavy equipment, and collaborating with other construction crew members to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Road Construction: Assist in the construction and repair of roads, including laying asphalt, concrete, and gravel. Operate compactors, rollers, and other tools to ensure smooth surfaces.
  • Bridge Construction: Participate in the construction and repair of bridge foundations, decks, and supports. Assist with setting up forms, pouring concrete, and installing steel reinforcements.
  • Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport construction materials such as concrete, steel beams, and asphalt. Use wheelbarrows, shovels, and other tools to move materials to work sites.
  • Site Preparation: Help clear construction sites by removing debris, vegetation, and obstructions. Level ground and prepare surfaces for road or bridge installation.
  • Equipment Operation Support: Assist heavy equipment operators by directing traffic around construction zones, securing work areas, and managing equipment as needed.
  • Formwork and Scaffolding: Set up and take down formwork, scaffolding, and other temporary structures to support bridge construction and concrete pours.
  • Traffic Management: Assist with the setup of traffic control measures, including placing cones, signs, and barriers to guide vehicles safely around construction zones.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) on the job site. Maintain awareness of surroundings to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with foremen, engineers, and other crew members to complete projects according to specifications and timelines.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in road and bridge construction or a related field is preferred but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
  • Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit and able to perform manual labor tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of Tools and Equipment: Familiarity with construction tools and equipment such as jackhammers, saws, and compactors is a plus.
  • Team Player: Ability to work well in a team environment and follow instructions from supervisors.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and safety in construction tasks.
  • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is preferred for traveling to job sites.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
