Job Title: Technician Veterinarian

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Technician Veterinarian to assist in providing high-quality veterinary care for animals in Nepal. The Technician Veterinarian will work closely with licensed veterinarians to perform diagnostic tests, assist in surgeries, administer treatments, and care for a wide range of animals, including livestock and pets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of veterinary practices and a commitment to animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in Veterinary Procedures: Help veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries, ensuring all equipment and materials are ready and sterilized.
- Animal Care: Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments to animals as directed by the veterinarian. Monitor the health and recovery of animals under care.
- Diagnostic Testing: Perform or assist in laboratory tests, such as bloodwork, fecal analysis, and urine tests to help diagnose animal health issues.
- Surgical Assistance: Prepare animals for surgery, assist during procedures, and monitor their recovery post-operation.
- Wound Care and Bandaging: Clean and dress wounds, apply bandages, and provide aftercare instructions to pet owners or livestock handlers.
- Health Monitoring: Observe animals for signs of illness or distress, reporting findings to the veterinarian for further action.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of treatments, vaccinations, and procedures for each animal. Ensure that data is up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Educate Owners: Provide animal owners with information on proper care, nutrition, and preventive measures to promote the health and well-being of animals.
- Maintain Veterinary Equipment: Ensure that all veterinary equipment is properly maintained and sanitized, and assist with inventory management of medical supplies.
- Field Visits (if applicable): Accompany veterinarians on field visits to farms or remote areas, assisting with the treatment of livestock and working animals.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or certification in veterinary technology or animal health science.
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or with livestock is preferred.
- Knowledge of common animal diseases, treatments, and diagnostic tools.
- Ability to handle animals of various sizes and temperaments with care and compassion.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to work in various settings, including veterinary clinics, farms, or field locations.
- Physical stamina to handle long shifts, including lifting and restraining animals.
- Commitment to animal welfare and ethical treatment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry animals, equipment, or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in both indoor clinics and outdoor settings, possibly under challenging weather conditions.
- Able to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods while handling animals.
