Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Grinder to join our manufacturing team. The Grinder will be responsible for setting up and operating grinding machines to remove excess material, sharpen, or polish metal parts to precise specifications. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Operation: Set up and operate grinding machines, such as surface, cylindrical, and centerless grinders, to produce parts to precise specifications.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine the specifications and tolerances required for each part.
  • Tooling Setup: Select and install appropriate grinding wheels, adjusting speeds and feeds as necessary to achieve desired results.
  • Part Inspection: Inspect finished parts using measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure they meet quality standards and dimensional accuracy.
  • Material Handling: Load and unload parts onto grinding machines, positioning them securely and ensuring they are properly supported during the grinding process.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on grinding machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacing worn components. Report any malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production output, machine settings, and any issues encountered during shifts.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a Grinder or in a similar role in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with grinding machines and related equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in work.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and the ability to work in a safe manner.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to use measuring tools.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime if necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Capable of lifting, carrying, and moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
