Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Auto Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of vehicles. The Auto Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that vehicles are safe, reliable, and in excellent working condition. This role involves performing mechanical repairs, troubleshooting issues, and carrying out routine maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle Diagnostics: Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical issues in vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake replacements, and fluid level checks. Repair or replace worn or damaged parts in engines, brakes, steering, and other systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues in a wide range of vehicle systems (engine, transmission, fuel, and electrical). Provide accurate estimates of necessary repairs and timelines for completion.
  • Test Driving: Conduct test drives to ensure that vehicles are repaired properly and are functioning as expected.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Recommend preventive maintenance to customers to extend the life of their vehicles and avoid costly repairs in the future.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all repairs and maintenance performed on vehicles, including parts used, time spent, and recommendations for future service.
  • Customer Interaction: Explain mechanical issues to customers in a clear and understandable manner. Provide them with repair options, estimates, and timelines.
  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain tools, equipment, and shop environment in good working condition. Ensure that all tools are stored and used properly.
  • Compliance with Safety Standards: Adhere to safety protocols while working on vehicles. Ensure the use of proper protective gear and follow shop safety procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience as an auto mechanic is required. Familiarity with a wide variety of vehicle makes and models is preferred.
  • Certification: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or equivalent is preferred, but not required.
  • Mechanical Knowledge: Strong understanding of automotive systems including engines, transmissions, braking systems, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to accurately diagnose mechanical problems and come up with effective repair solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in performing repairs and conducting inspections.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical customers in a clear and professional manner.
  • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 pounds).
  • Comfortable standing, bending, and working under vehicles for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a noisy environment with exposure to various chemicals and tools.
