Job Title: Animal Caretaker – Sheep
Location: Romania
Job Type: Full-Time/Part-Time
Job Summary: We are looking for a dedicated Animal Caretaker to manage the daily care and well-being of our flock of sheep. The ideal candidate will be responsible for feeding, monitoring, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for the sheep. This role also involves assisting with shearing, lambing, and general health care of the flock.
Key Responsibilities:
- Feeding and Watering: Provide the sheep with appropriate feed and ensure they have access to fresh water at all times.
- Health Monitoring: Regularly inspect the sheep for signs of illness, injury, or disease, and report any health concerns to a veterinarian or supervisor.
- Shearing and Wool Maintenance: Assist with shearing the sheep and maintaining their coats to prevent matting and ensure cleanliness.
- Lambing Assistance: Assist with the birthing process during lambing season, including providing care for newborn lambs.
- General Care: Ensure sheep are kept in clean, comfortable environments, and help maintain pastures, barns, and enclosures by removing waste and replenishing bedding as needed.
- Parasite Control: Help manage and administer parasite control treatments, vaccinations, and medications as directed.
- Exercise and Grazing: Guide the sheep to grazing areas, rotate pastures, and ensure they get regular exercise and fresh grass.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of feeding schedules, health treatments, and any medical or behavioral issues.
- Farm Maintenance: Perform general farm maintenance tasks, such as repairing fences, cleaning water troughs, and maintaining feeding areas.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with sheep or livestock is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of animal husbandry and sheep care is a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina and ability to handle physically demanding tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor animal health.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and during lambing season.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable standing, walking, and bending for long periods while working with sheep.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
