Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled Concrete Blacksmith to join our construction team. The role involves fabricating and installing metal reinforcements in concrete structures to ensure durability and stability. The ideal candidate will have experience working with metal in construction settings, including bending, cutting, and assembling reinforcement bars (rebar) and other steel structures for concrete projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Metal Fabrication: Cut, bend, and shape steel bars, rods, and mesh for use in concrete construction projects, ensuring all materials meet project specifications.
  • Reinforcement Installation: Install rebar and other steel reinforcements into formwork before concrete is poured, following blueprints and construction plans.
  • Structural Support: Secure metal reinforcements using wire, clips, or welding to ensure stability and strength in concrete structures such as foundations, walls, beams, and columns.
  • Concrete Preparation: Collaborate with concrete workers to ensure that reinforcements are placed accurately and securely before concrete is poured.
  • Welding and Joining: Weld metal bars and supports together as needed to create custom reinforcements or repair broken metal structures within concrete.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, helmets, and protective eyewear. Ensure that all work is completed in compliance with building codes and safety standards.
  • Maintenance of Tools and Equipment: Maintain welding and metalworking tools in good working condition and perform routine checks to ensure safety and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a blacksmith or metalworker in a construction setting, particularly with concrete reinforcement work.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using metalworking tools such as rebar benders, cutters, welders, and other equipment related to steel fabrication and installation.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to understand the specifications of metal reinforcements.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision in cutting, bending, and placing steel reinforcements to ensure structural integrity.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding conditions, including standing, bending, and climbing for long periods.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions on construction sites, including hot, cold, or dusty environments.
  • Comfortable lifting and moving heavy materials (up to 50 kg).
  • Capable of working at heights or in confined spaces when needed.
