Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Tailor to join our team. The Tailor will be responsible for altering, repairing, and customizing garments to meet clients’ specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail, excellent sewing skills, and the ability to work with various fabrics and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Garment Alterations: Perform alterations on a variety of garments, including shortening or lengthening hems, adjusting fit, and modifying designs as requested by clients.
  • Custom Tailoring: Create custom garments based on client specifications, including taking accurate measurements, selecting fabrics, and ensuring proper fit and style.
  • Repairs: Repair damaged clothing, including fixing tears, replacing zippers, and reattaching buttons.
  • Fitting Sessions: Conduct fitting sessions with clients to ensure that alterations and custom garments meet their expectations. Make necessary adjustments based on client feedback.
  • Fabric and Material Handling: Work with various fabrics and materials, including understanding their properties and how they affect the garment’s fit and appearance.
  • Sewing and Cutting: Use sewing machines, sergers, and other equipment to construct and alter garments. Cut patterns and fabric pieces accurately.
  • Client Communication: Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, provide recommendations, and ensure satisfaction with the final product.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of client orders, alterations, and payments. Ensure timely completion of work.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all garments are completed to high standards of quality and craftsmanship. Inspect finished products for accuracy and consistency.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience as a tailor or in a similar role is required. Experience with a variety of garment types and fabrics is a plus.
  • Sewing Skills: Proficiency in using sewing machines, sergers, and other tailoring equipment. Ability to perform hand sewing techniques.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure precision in alterations and custom tailoring.
  • Creativity: Ability to design and modify garments creatively to meet clients’ needs and preferences.
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude to provide a positive experience for clients.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple orders and tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks such as sewing and cutting.
  • Comfortable handling various fabrics and materials, including lifting and moving them as needed.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precise sewing and alterations.
